Ted Anderson - Fracture Mechanics

Fracture Mechanics for Pipeline Engineers – Ted Anderson Presentation in Woodlands, TX May 16-17, 2017

Coming in May 2017, one of the leading industry experts in fracture mechanics (and our newest metallurgical partner!), Dr. Ted L. Anderson, will be presenting a course on Fracture Mechanics for Pipeline Engineers in the Woodlands, TX.

  • The event will be held at the offices of Dynamic Risk USA, which is located at 10001 Woodloch Forest Drive, The Woodlands, Texas. This location is 20 miles north of Houston Intercontinental Airport.
  • Class will begin at 8 am and will end at approximately 4 pm on each day. Lunch will be provided on both days.

Salt Fog Testing - Texas Style - by G2MT Labs

Salt Fog Testing of Large Components and Systems

“The Salt Fog Sauna”

Sometimes a typical salt fog tester just isn’t big enough; so we just keep making them bigger!  G2MT Labs now offers one of Houston’s largest salt fog testing units in our new 6′ x 8′ system. Engineered from the ground up by our team, this system sports a total working space of over 2,400 cubic feet; that’s big enough for a twelve-person dry sauna!

With multiple collection units, an automated heating system, and optional UV exposure capabilities, we can handle a wide range of tests including ASTM B117 and many other related standards.

“The Junior Box”

Our intermediate-size box has a working interior capacity of 24″ x 40″, sufficient for many typical jobs of 1 to 100 parts. Designed for easy access and analysis, it can be run constantly without opening the lid or can be checked daily (or more) to evaluate the onset of corrosion.

Salt Fog Testing - Texas Style - by G2MT LabsWhether you have lots of parts, large components or entire systems that need testing, we can help. And of course, our team has the knowledge and experience to help you understand what the results mean and how to apply them. Contact us today for a quote or to learn more!

The Future of NDE and Inspections

ASM, METALLURGY

The Next Generation of Non-destructive Evaluation and Inspection

The concept of modern industrial non-destructive evaluation has not changed for almost a century: the sensors have focused on finding/sizing cracks and defects, and/or measuring corrosion damage through changes in thickness or pit formation.

Over time the sensors have been advanced to be more accurate and are capable of finding smaller cracks, defects, and pits than ever before, but failures still occur. So what if we could actually prevent failures by using a proactive assessment and maintenance system? The next generation of non-destructive tools will enable companies to be proactive by providing real-time material properties (residual stresses, strength, toughness) assessment as materials age and degrade.

The key is to find the potential problems before they turn into cracks or defects and if there is a crack or defect to know whether or not the crack/defect will affect the integrity of the component during service. Material property non-destructive measurements hold great promise for improving industrial operations and safety. In this presentation, G2MT will present several innovations in non-destructive material property sensors and will describe how these sensors are poised to impact and change our understanding and application of non-destructive inspection of metals.
